Most chess players of any level do not adequately study the importance of precise endgame technique or skill. This can lead to missed golden opportunity and sometimes the feeling of disappointment and embarrassment.
Capablanca has a bold statement on this: “In order to improve your game, you must study the endgame before anything else; for whereas the endings can be studied and mastered by themselves, the middlegame and the opening must be studied in relation to the endgame.”
