Also, the FIDE rule applies to blitz chess. Blitz chess is as much about playing the clock as checkmating. The side with mating material wins; = a loss for the side who's flagged.

Play with Increment and the issue goes away.
Somebody starts this very same thread on a daily basis. Same, over and over. All members should be required to read the rules and sign they understand FIDE rules regarding flag falls and mating material !!
