I guess it's a benefit I got from playing chess. Who knows? Maybe a discussion on a forum is very much like a chess game. There are moves and countermoves as well as there are arguments and counterarguments.

How true your words are ABC90. I also believe that certain things are just like other things and that one thing follows an other. Did you by any chance read Thorwald Buechenschluecher's 'Das Universalgesetz', in which he analyses this very point, starting from 'Das Wosindwireigentlich' as defined by Adolf Obstkuchen?

No, I didn't. My knowledge of German philosophers and their writings is extremely superficial and I don't speak any German. Anyway, I have no doubt the book you mentioned must be very interesting. Perhaps, if I find a good translation, I'll have a look at it.

Endgame or ending. Americans say endgame, but from what I've seen the British usually say ending.

Don't be surprised. A careful observation of Nature is enough to notice significant similarities between things that may look different at a first glance. You don't necessarily need to read "Das Universalgesetz" to become a sharp observer.

Nice to know, thank you! Whenever I use English in either written or spoken communication I generally try to stick to the British standard, so it becomes important to be aware of any differences between British and American English in that it enables me to keep consistent with the standard I've chosen.

I don't think endgame vs ending is an American vs British thing. I think it depends on the context.
E.g. I would say "All endings are good for white here." however "We have reached the ending." sounds weird to me so I would prefer "We have reached the endgame."

Though English is not my mother tongue so take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah (sigh).. I kind of know that subconsciously I guess, but it's just that I've always used Das Universalgesetz to interpret and understand everything. It's also that Thorwald says on page 158 that if you don't read Das Universalgesetz, your hair will fall out and you'll get pimples on your butt. I've never been able to figure out if he was joking there or not.. What do you think?

But I see what you're saying about things in nature being more similar than you think and all. My nose for instance is the spitting image of a cauliflower and my navel looks exactly like the Mandelbrot set. I even believed for a while that Mr. Mandelbrot must have been spying on me in order to come up with that contraption of his, but I don't think that's true anymore. I did some rebirthing therapy for that and it really helped me to believe that he came up with it all by himself... I think... Probably...
