Whoever invented the blitz mode (I mean, not on lichess, but anywhere in the world), must have been totally crazy and not understanding the point of the game at all.
I think this mode is a laugh in the face of the beautiful strategic game of chess.
Most of the games I tried playing I lost for one of two reasons:
-The opponent made a move that was totally unexpected and I did not have a response prepared and lost some seconds and my time ran out after few more moves. Okey, perhaps some people enjoy this kind of game, but for me, it's not the point of chess.
-I did not see the opponent make a move at all (should I check the timer, to see whose is ticking, or the board?) Usually when the opponent makes a move in the opposite corner of the board than what we are playing (like, when most pieces are concentrating for example around c3 and the opponent makes a pawn move on g6), it takes me few seconds to even notice that there was a move.
I suppose this does not happen in real life, when you see the opponent move his hand, but here, it sucks...
Could you think of something to eliminate at least the second thing in this online environment?
#edit: and it is double that valid for bullet mode. that is not about being better at all, it is about making faster moves
