How to punish copycats in chess?

This topic is not related only to standard chess, it's also related to variants.

I started this topic because copycats are really annoying.
There is no generic way on punishing of opponent mirroring your moves. It is case by case But if you are playing white opponent just mirrors your moves it will not end well for him.
Just play normal chess and at some point your opponent can't copycat Ur moves because it will hang pieces
There was a copycat puzzle in the Advent of Chess thing.
1. Nf3 Nf6 2. Ng5 Ng4 3. Nxh7 Nxh2 4. Nxf8 Nxf1 5. Kxf1 Kxf8 6. Rxh8#
1 d4 d5 2Bg5 Bg4 3Bh4 Bh5 4Qd3 Qd6 5Qh3 Qh6 6Qc8+ is also a mate in 6 in copycat style.

Anyone who succeeds in annoying their opponent purely with the moves they play is doing well. Checkmate may be the ultimate aim of the game, but spoiling the opponent's happy mood means you're half way there.
