Why is this a good move?

lichess.org/training/62077

I was able to guess the puzzle. Lol my style of chess. Guess the right moves.

But anyways I was wondering why moving the Knight back to Nc6 was a bad move and letting it go was a good move.

To me that seems like a better position than to be down 3 or 4 points.

Thx.
After Nc6 white can play e5 attacking the knight on c6 and the one on f6. So black can't really go without losing a piece.
If black plays Nc6, e5 attacks both knights, so the deciding factor is the activity of the white bishop.
Wouldn't taking on the d6 pawn be the solution then a follow up of nf5 for when white recaptures?

Thank you
Ya but the e5 pawn only takes the knight on the right no?

The pawn can't attack on nc6

Without thinking many players would castle but it looks like the right move is gonna be f4. The point is the rook is hanging on a8 and once you play f4 if the knight moves you can play e5 attacking the horse on f6 and discovered attack on the a8 tower.
If black retreats the ns he/she loses a rook and gives away the centre.
