It is perhaps not best to play with a small pawn center in the Adams Attack since g4-g5 is also a common idea in the Scheveningen (where it is called the Keres Attack).
Originally developed by Michael Adams in the 1980s, this odd looking setup actually prepares g4 in order to gain kingside space and potentially launch a kingside attack. By not playing f3, there is also room for playing f4 in the attack as well.
