Start early and learn to love chess

01)If you are going to be a GM the first thing you should do is learn how to play chess. Ideally, you have such facts at the youngest possible age. Magnus Carlsen began his chess career at the age of five and became one of the greatest players in history.

When you start young, it will be easier to become a GM
That said, it's never too late to start. There are examples of players who started late before becoming very few players in history who did not start playing seriously until their late 20s, such as Mikhail Chigorin, who learned to play at the age of 16.

03)What IQ do you need to become a chess GM??

A person with a high IQ may also be suitable to become a Chess GM, but your IQ score does not accurately reflect the skills you need to achieve this goal. Having a high IQ does not mean you will be good at chess.

As of September 2021, there are 39 people in the world ( WGM ) who have a title exclusive to "WGM", which requires an ELO of 2300 rather than 2500 (for the GM title).

How many hours a day should you practice chess to become a GM?
At least 5-3 hours a day.

Are chess players smart??
Although some chess players are good, it is not true to say that all chess players are good.
