Ratings difference

I’m constantly noticing people that have 1300 or even below ratings in rapid or even classical time controls and have 1700 or above in correspondence.

Then when playing these folks they don’t make serious blunders like people rated 1300 do. How does that happen, the time controls alone can’t account for that disparity. Are people using engines I thought it was forbidden?
Some players might think that I am surely cheating because of my actual rating over 2000 in correspondence and in the 1300 in rapid games.

Be assured that I am not cheating; I have not an iota of interest in cheating.

First, I would say that my rating in correspondence is too high in my humble point of view. A few descent wins, a couple of games won because my opponents didn't finish the game and, surprisingly, a couple 2000 opponents who made weird basic errors.

In correspondence, I have all my time to analyze the game, what I don't have in rapid and it hurts for that.

Rapid games are basically new for me. I have played almost only correspondance games for more than 10 years.

I was very very bad in rapid games; around 800 (chess.com). So, being in the 1300 has been a huge improvement for me.

Lately, because of my wins against 1700, 1800, and 2000, I have wondered if rating were exaggerated on Lichess.

Strangely, I find better opposition in my rapid games against 1300-1400 than those against 1700, 1800 and 2000 in correspondence.

I would like to be challenged by a NM or higher to see how things go; that would be the perfect challenge for me to evaluate my real strength.
Well 8hrs to make a decision is better than 2 minutes. Less stress.

I'm 50. My play at 30min is much better than blitz. When I can actually focus and not slip into dementia after calculating 2 lines in a row.

Would it surprise me people even cheat at correspondence? Absolutely not. Cheaters are a weird type of person with zero dignity. They are capable of anything.

Narcissists and psychos will use anything in life to brag about. Fake elo is just another brag.
They even attach themselves to other people's success.
Example:: ""My buddy's cousin is a race car driver, I know him so I must be awesome."" Lolz
You cant compare different time control ratings and another chess sites. The biggest competition is in bullet and blitz (because generally best players are playing these) so playerpool is harder to beat. Seems like correspondance here are playing mostly beginners and not many players are taking it seriously so you can have pretty good results. Anyways chess com have much bigger daily games scene
