I get that the title is a joke but just for argument sake, take the best speed ims (mutdpro,opperwezen) and compare them to the the best speed gms (magnus, alireza) there's a huge difference still. Only a few non gms have won the titled arenas, and it's been ims with over 2500 fide rating...meaning they are basically gms.
