Announcing the Lichess World Championship

Why do you guys care about "watering down" the world championship? Literally doesn't matter, like at all.
Thanks for the article, but will there be a diploma or certificate? :D

I think it's more like a 'high five'! :)

While there are benefits to online chess, especially cost and availability of players 24/7/365, I greatly prefer real life face to face chess. There is something more human, more real, about being in the same room, or outside at a table in the Zócalo (town central square) with the person I am playing chess with, which online doesn’t recreate. There’s something about having the club’s chess master sit down across the table from me and teaching me how to play chess well enough to beat all my friends; mentorship like that just isn’t the same face to face.
